When you’re staying at our serviced apartments in Leatherhead, there’s always something fun to do. And whatever your tastes, you’re bound to find something on at Leatherhead Theatre to while away a few hours.

About the theatre

Located just a three-minute walk from our Swan House apartments and a five-minute walk from our Royal Swan Quarter apartments, Leatherhead theatre was opened in 1969. It’s fully accessible, still features its original décor and the building is Grade II listed. In addition to seating for 530, you’ll also find a bar and coffee shop for those all-important pre-theatre and interval drinks and nibbles. If you’re early to your event, you’ll have the opportunity to appreciate the artwork displayed throughout the foyer and mezzanine.

Anyone staying at our accommodation in Leatherhead in December will be spoilt for choice, with a great selection of live theatre events and screenings to choose from. Here’s just a small taste of what you can expect from a venue ranked as one of the top things to do in Leatherhead.

For the family

Panto: This year’s pantomime is Snow White, starring Carol Cleveland of Monty Python fame. Shout, laugh and sing along as you enjoy this traditional festive show full of slapstick, gags and outrageous costumes. Running from 17th – 30th December, tickets range from £16.50 for an individual to £70 for a family group.

Captain Calamity: Keep the festive spirit alive with a trip to watch a show full of Christmas mayhem, magic and merriment on 20th December. When you’ve enjoyed the craziness of showtime, you’ll be able to meet Father Christmas afterwards to let him know about any last-minute wishes. Tickets are £8.50 each.

If you’re visiting Leatherhead with young children, they may also like to visit Santa’s Sitting Room where they can experience the true magic of Christmas.

Comedy

Stand-up comedy with Tom Ward: Tom Ward and a supporting line-up of 5 more top comedians are performing on 3rd December. An award-winning comedian with appearances on Live at the Apollo, Roast Battle and The Stand-Up Sketch Show, Tom has supported some of Britain’s top comedians and performed in solo shows at The Edinburgh Fringe. With tickets from just £22, you can look forward to an evening of laughter to relax after a hard day at work.

Scummy Mummies: Having already ticked off an award-winning podcast, a book and their own merchandise, the Scummy Mummies are now appearing in their own comedy show. Combining sketches, songs and jokes, this is definitely an adults-only night out to remember. Tickets are £20.

Music

A West End Christmas: If you love a musical, you’re in for a special evening on 7th December. Featuring stars from the West End stages and the Show Choir, you’ll be treated to songs from Les Miserables, Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, Rent and The Greatest Showman, as well as some classic Christmas favourites. Adult tickets are £18.

Rat Pack Live: If you prefer swing to show tunes, you’ll want to book tickets to The Rat Pack Christmas Party. Featuring classic music from Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra, alongside the Christmas songs you know and love, this is an extravaganza to remember. Tickets are £25 and £27.

Screenings

Matilda: The Roald Dahl book we all love was adapted into an award-winning West End show – and now it’s a musical film too! Starring Emma Thompson and telling the story of a little girl with extraordinary powers, Matilda is a treat for adults and children alike. You can catch it throughout early December for £6.50 per ticket.

The Nutcracker: Enjoy the most Christmassy ballet of all time during this screening of a performance by the Royal Ballet. Featuring music by Tchaikovsky, period costume designs and spectacular dancing, it’s a memorable experience – without the hassle of a trip to the Royal Opera House. Tickets range from £12 to £16.
