Despite being a North American holiday, Thanksgiving is celebrated worldwide by American immigrants and their loved ones. Many restaurants in London, known as one of the most diverse cities in the world, welcome American visitors by providing a Thanksgiving menu for the holidays.
There are a number of ways to spend a typical Thanksgiving Day in London, whether you prepare your own meal at home or dine at one of the city’s many restaurants. As an ever-expanding multicultural hub, London provides locals and visitors with the opportunity to learn more about various festivities from around the world, ensuring that even if you’re new to the Thanksgiving scene, you’ll always have a great time. If you’re spending Thanksgiving in London, the restaurants listed below have a seasonal menu that will make you feel right at home:
Plaquemine Lock is a restaurant in Islington that serves American-Caribbean dishes from Cajun and Creole cuisine and is well known among the Caribbean and Southern American communities in London. By eliminating meat and lamb from the menu, recycling whenever possible, and installing an all-induction stove in the kitchen, the staff at Plaquemine Lock is also actively working to safeguard the environment.
Plaquemine Lock will serve a Thanksgiving-inspired dinner with a Caribbean twist during Thanksgiving week, including a Po’Boy with roast turkey, blackened turkey and red beans, and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. To ensure that everyone may enjoy the holiday season, their menu offers gluten-free and vegan Thankgiving recipes.
Hard Rock Café
Hard Rock Café, one of the world’s most well-known restaurants, serves American cuisine all year long, including classic and plant-based cheeseburgers, All-American Sliders, and the New York Strip Steak. Starting in London during the early 1970s, Hard Rock Café is most associated with the evolving rock-and-roll aesthetic of the 1980s. Today, the Café has built a community in every corner of the world, with over 160 venues across 74 countries!
For the Thanksgiving weekend, Hard Rock Café’s Picadilly Circus location will serve a Thanksgiving menu (25th – 28th November). The menu will include traditional dishes that Americans will recognise at this time of year, such as slow-roasted turkey breast, homemade stuffing, and a side of cranberry sauce. Make a reservation to enjoy Thanksgiving the right way!
Sea Containers, conveniently located along the River Thames, provides a fantastic dining experience for guests from all over the world. This restaurant has a diverse menu, so whether you’re looking for Shakshuka, Mac & Cheese, or steamed mussels, Sea Containers has it all. Their pet-friendly policy, private dining room and a seating area overlooking the River Thames make this the ideal place for a luxurious night in the city.
The Thanksgiving menu at Sea Containers is simple, but it includes all the classic American dishes like roast turkey with cranberries and corn, followed by sweet potato custard tart for dessert. In the spirit of the holiday season, Sea Containers has announced that £5 from each meal purchased will be donated to The Felix Project, a charity fighting food poverty by delivering surplus food to charities and schools that help feed vulnerable communities around London.
The Blues Kitchen
The Blues Kitchen is a restaurant and bar with locations across London, in Brixton, Camden, and Shoreditch. Serving well-known American dishes like the Philly Cheese Stake and Buttermilk Fried Chicken, The Blues Kitchen has a distinct American identity that influences every aspect of the establishment. Their menu also includes vegan and vegetarian options. Every night of the week, the venue hosts events with live music and DJs, allowing visitors to sing along to some of the most iconic Blues, Soul and R&B hits while enjoying delicious food.
On Thanksgiving Day (24th November), all three of The Blues Kitchen venues will be hosting a Thanksgiving party, complete with a full Thanksgiving menu and a live band covering classics from funk, soul and Rock’n’roll. Their menu includes their seasonal Thanksgiving Burger which incorporates all the elements of a traditional Thanksgiving meal, as well as bourbon (originally developed in Kentucky), craft beer and quality cocktails.
Bodean’s BBQ
With an American-inspired aesthetic and delicious BBQ dishes to match, Boudean’s BBQ restaurants have become a staple place for local and international BBQ lovers around the country. Andre Blais’s wish to “bring the taste, the style, the soul of his beloved Kansas City barbeque to the UK” has allowed this restaurant to develop into a franchise with five venues right in the heart of London.
Throughout Thanksgiving Day, Bodean’s BBQ will serve a three-course Thanksgiving meal at their Tower Hill, Soho, and Fulham Smokehouses. Their menu includes a variety of traditional holiday dishes such as turkey breast, glazed ham, cornbread stuffing, and cranberry sauce. Choose between pumpkin pie or key lime pie for dessert; vegan and vegetarian choices are also available upon request. To have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner in the city, be sure to reserve your table (£10 deposit per person).
Their Tower Hill Smokehouse is only a 6-minute walk from Roomspace’s River House serviced apartments in London, while the Soho branch is an 11-minute tube ride from Sterling House. Their vibrant atmosphere and generous BBQ platters make Boudean’s BBQ the ideal place to eat for our American guests, whether you’re visiting from the States or simply want to enjoy some fantastic BBQ.
